We just got back from an interesting, fun packed and adventure filled vacation at the Lake of the Ozarks. It was awesome!!!! We made some new friends and have some great memories of the 4th at the Palisades.
We were joined by the Weeks Family (Matt, Felica, LouLou, Rachel, Maddox, Daxson, Debbie & Denny) and Ali in a 3 bedroom Condo, can you say CRAZY!!!
Friday, July 2nd, we headed into town for a little bit of shopping at the outlets and then hit up the old part of town for some good old bumper boat showdown. Jada had a blas getting wet and trying to steer the boat. we finished the day with an awesome, homemade ice cream cone and rainbow snow cones. It hit about 93 degrees but it was a blast.
Lamar, Jada, and I decided to visit Osage State Park on Saturday, July 3rd. We enjoyed a picnic lunch on a point over looking the lake and then took a dip at the beach. Jada saw her first crawfish which tried to snap her right toe off. We didn't get a chance to ride the horses at the park because we were 20 mins too late for the trail guides. Call it fate or something, however I did have the trusty benadryl in case the allergies decided to take the best of us. Since the horse back riding didn't pan out we decided to go on a 16.4 mile hike through the park. We put on our "bug spray" and sunscreen on and headed into the forest until we stumbled on a sign that read "enter only if you have heavy tick spray on" on glance of that sign and we kicked it into high gear back to the Tahoe and then to the condo. Safe to say we didn't have any ticks.
We went to the pool every day. By the 4th day Jada could doggy paddle without a life jacket and showed she knew how to swim underwater. It was perfect.
We rented a boat on Sunday the 4th. We headed out to the lake on a 16 passenger pontoon boat, the lake was rather choppy and needless to say 2 crew members became ill and had to shipped to shore. (Matt & Amanda) Jada swears she saw a swordfish jump out of the water (wonder where she gets those thoughts...I once thought I saw a zebra while hunting in southern texas) I beleive it was a Big Mouth Bass...but didn't get a clear view of the fish. It was a sight to see. After the boat event, we all headed into town for a skee ball battle and bummer car showdown. The kids and Lamar took a gamble at the haunted hotel as well. Can you beleive there is still skee ball for 10 cents a game???? We had a fun filled dinner at JJ Twigs and then rounded the night wathcing fire works with our feet in the pool. It was a sight to see and can't wait unitl next year.

What a day at the pool. Jada invited her friend Megan (blond) to go to the pool with us and several of their classmates from preschool where there enjoying the pool on a humid 96 degree summer day in Iowa. We all meet at the Northwest Aquatic center in Des Monies, IA and had a blast. I think the girls went down the slide 15+ times and loved every moment.
